During the hot weather Carol and I also painted at a couple of the local state parks. Both of these are on the coast and we found places in the shade. While at San Mateo, a fire broke out in the wilderness area and we had to evacuate the park. We were planning on staying all day, but to tell you the truth, I was glad to quit early because I was ready for a tall glass of ice tea by my pool.

These were painted when the weather was really hot. My painting buddy Carol has a lovely garden that we decided to paint at rather than lug our gear in the heat. We enjoyed the comforts of a cool ocean breeze and plenty of shade.
Homeless
While on a bike ride in hot July, we came across a homeless woman who seemed to be in distress. No one seemed to even notice her. As we were coming up to her, I asked if she needed anything and she flagged me on. This event really hit me that most of the time I choose to ignore the homeless. This scene stylistically depicts the beauty of Southern California, people enjoying their lives and the fact that there are the less fortunate which we seem to ignore. Are they in our way or are they the way to opening our hearts?
