Creating for the Tiki World........One Year Anniversay. Part one.

It’s been a great year of making art for Tiki lovers everywhere. Here’s a quick review, or maybe not so quick since I haven’t blogged at all!

Here’s where it all started. Trader Vic’s at the Disneyland Hotel. I fell in love with the Tiki World. Didn’t know it existed until a friend introduced me. We later attended the Original Tiki Market Place and Tikiland Trading Markets. I was hooked!

After studying the Maori art, I created these two large pieces of a man and woman.

Next to come “The Kid,” the first mug? or is it a pitcher? This is styled after the Hei-tiki with many traditional Maori symbols on the front and back. With my sculpture experience, I always design in the round with the design directing the eye to go around the form.

Then the awaited foot surgery. While in recovery I started designing “Diver Bob.”

The rest is history….”Tourcan 2 Love,” some skull cups, tiki babies

created AbiNormal Tiki,

and then had my first showing at the Original Tiki Market in Garden Grove, CA.
